Keep Your Warranty Intact

There's a common worry that having a car serviced anywhere other than the dealership will void a new car warranty. It won't, as long as the work follows the manufacturer's schedule and uses parts and fluids that meet specification. At Advanced Automotive Services, we carry out logbook servicing exactly to the schedule for your make and model, stamp the book, and keep computer records of every service we do. We also inspect the rest of the vehicle while it's on the hoist, so anything starting to wear gets picked up early rather than at the next service. If a safety certificate is due as well, we can handle both together. Book in on (07) 4033 6418 from anywhere in Cairns.

What a Logbook Service Includes

Every logbook service follows the manufacturer's schedule for that vehicle, so the work varies with the make, model and kilometres.

  • Scheduled items completed to specification. We work through the tasks listed for that service interval rather than a generic checklist. That's what keeps the service history valid.
  • Manufacturer-approved parts and fluids. Filters, oils and consumables are matched to what the manufacturer specifies. Using the wrong grade of oil is one of the few things that genuinely can affect a warranty claim.
  • A full inspection while the car is up. Brakes, tyres, suspension, belts and hoses all get checked at the same time. If something needs attention, you'll hear about it before we do the work.
  • Stamped and recorded. Your logbook is stamped and dated on completion. We keep our own record as well, which helps if the book is ever lost.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Australian Consumer Law allows any qualified mechanic to carry out logbook servicing without affecting a new car warranty, provided the manufacturer's schedule is followed and the correct parts and fluids are used.

The service history develops a gap, which can affect both warranty claims and resale value. The bigger risk is mechanical, since items like oil and filters are scheduled on condition rather than convenience.

The manufacturer sets it, usually as a kilometre figure or a time period, whichever comes first. The schedule is printed in the logbook itself and varies between makes.
